Area IV Special Olympics Spring Game Results

Forty-five Wood County Special Olympics athletes competed in bocce, track and volleyball at the Area 4 Spring Games at Sylvania Southview High School on Saturday, May 6. Due to inclement weather, the cycling competition was postponed. The ten counties competing in Area 4 are Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Sandusky, Williams and Wood.

In bocce, Mason Gregg and Melinda Horner captured first place, Lauren Bennett and Jolynn Snyder placed second, and Phyllis Layman and Lisa Rothfleisch finished third.

Track athletes who finished first in their respective division are Daniel Bowen, 400M run and standing long jump; Tyler Hitt, 1500M run; Faith Laube, 200M and 400M run; Stephen Scholl, 400M run; Anne Schooley, 100M and 200M run; Ian Titus, 100M and 200M run; and Bailey Whitner, 200M run. There were ten second place finishes and twelve third place finishes.

In volleyball, the Traditional Team placed third while the Modified Team took fourth place.
